Sam and Football

Literacy Narrative

Reflection
My literacy narrative focuses on the story of when I started playing organized football. The story begins with an easy going smart boy. Before the eighth grade, I didn't have and people skills. That all changed when Coach Grayson took a chance and asked me to be his quarterback. Football taught me to take risks. This proved to be invaluable to me as I went through high school. I was no longer a shy and boring kid, I was a guy that people liked to be around.
Football also gave me the opportunity to make new friends and to learn life skills that are not taught in a regular classroom setting. I learned the importance of teamwork and hard work. I learned how to never give up, no matter what the score was. Football was a great platform for me to grow as an individual.
I chose to write about this story because it is the story that is remember and talked about often between my friends and me. They like to joke that if it wasn't for them I would still be a nerd with long hair that plays the flute. I remind them that I am still a nerd, but also agree with their prediction. I would recommend the game of football to any boy that is seeking to find himself. Football helped me find myself.
