Howdy!

I would like to personally thank you for visiting my website! The website focuses on two of my favorite subjects, education and football! Explore and visit everything, for each page has something interesting on it. In the end, I hope you will have enjoyed reading what I have produced for my freshman writing class over the course of the past semester. So go ahead, click away and begin reading!

Good morning, afternoon, or evening! My name is Sam Drummond and I am a freshman systems engineering student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I spend much of my time at college in the library or in my dorm studying. I also thoroughly enjoy doing math. I even like being in class, but not so much waking up and going to class. Am I a nerd? Heck to the yes! Am I a fun nerd? I sure think so. I have played baseball since I could walk and talk. My first word was ball. I also quarterbacked my varsity high school football team for three years, once leading us to an undefeated regular season. My idea of a good time would be to hike to the top of a mountain with a couple of good friends, set up a hammock, build a fire, and then watch the sun go down. I'm from the small town of Black Mountain, NC where my friends and I have an endless amount of mountains and back roads to explore. If you can't find me in the mountains, you could probably find me on a golf course in the warmer months yelling my favorite number, "4", or at a ski resort in the winter months yelling, "passing you on your right". I'm a small town kid pursuing his passion in the big city.

A Bit About Myself

Why My Topic Matters

The spread offense has taken over the game of football at all levels. The game you watch today is not the same game your mom or dad watched. We don't see a bruising running back or a relentless linebacker anymore. We see athletes, athletes everywhere. The game of football has changed. The question is - why? I researched this topic in depth and created a paper describing my opinions.

Why does my topic matter? I challenge anyone to go door to door in the south and ask why football matters. Many will say it is a way of life. "Roll Tide". Others will say it provides a way to get a college degree. "Student Athletes". I say it is because football has made such a positive impact on so many lives, mine included. Football turns boys into young men. The spread offense has allowed for more types of young men to play the game of football. Most anyone with a little muscle mass and an interest in the game can play. The coaches who are implementing the spread offense are also getting paid a fine penny. The spread offense has enabled the game of football to become more popular. Football and the spread offense matter.

These videos are from WLOS.com. Each one contains the top 5 football plays of the week from 3 different weeks from Western North Carolina. You can watch every play, or if you want to see me, skip ahead to the 45 second mark on the video to the right, the 2:00 minute mark for the video below, and the 1:45 minute mark for the bottom right video. My high school team, the Owen Warhorses, wears maroon or white jerseys, and has maroon helmets with a horse shoe on them. I was number four on our team.
