Sam and Football

"If your mind is empty, it is always ready for anything; it is open to everything. In the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert’s there are few."
This quote reminds me of children and adults. Children have the capacity to dream up whatever they think of. They are told at a young age that they can be anything they want. Children are so creative that their drawings and imaginations often defy gravity. Only in a child's mind can a car carry a family into space.
Adults are different. Starting around middle school, they are asked to choose what they want to be. In high school the same question is asked more seriously. Finally in college, they have to choose. The creative nature is there, but the mind is usually set on one goal: get a degree and a good job.

A Questioner

I am questioning the quote provided in class one day. The quote made me think about how creativity is valued less and less as we become older. I wonder why this is. As an engineering student, creativity is supposed to be at the forefront of what we do.
